it's a no-brainer but GIVEAWAYS and REVIEWS from bloggers and other mommy websites have gotten me to check out so many baby/kid products that i never would have know existed!! If I see a link about a giveaway i always check it out!! A huge one that gets the traffic is not just a simple "leave a comment" giveaway, it's the specific ones that say "go to the site and tell me something specific about the product" or "tell me what you would buy"!!!

I'm a member of a mommy group. We share information about products we like and don't like, especially when new or trendy products become available. I'm always more likely to visit a website and try a new product if it has been recommended to me by someone I know. I would suggest you invite forum members to share BabyLegs news, information, and promotions on their social media sites (blogs, FB, etc) and with their friends. Give-aways help, but aren't necessarily going to generate repeat customers.

In general, I will also only purchase on-line if I know people who have successfully purchased from the merchant in the past. If I am going to share my credit card information, I want to have some reassurance that the merchant is real and can be trusted to provide the product.

I am also much more likely to try a new product on-line if shipping is free or very inexpensive. If shipping is more than $5 for a purchase that is small in size, I'll usually skip the on-line purchase and look for a comparable product in a local store.

I specifically became aware of BabyLegs when I saw a couple pair for sale in my local Target. I loved the idea of the product, but didn't care for the selection. I was very excited when I returned home, did a web search, and realized that lots of cute styles were available. The knowledge that the brand was sold in a major retail chain gave me faith that my on-line purchase was safe.

Word of mouth. Not trying to toot our own horn here, but the people in this forum are gold to your company. We are walking advertisements and some of us are so obsessed we include BLs in every baby shower gift and tell everyone we know about them. ;)

How did I come across BabyLegs? Another mom gave me some. That simple.

With that said I know I talk about them non-stop when there are deals, giveaways and new designs out.

I post on my blog and FaceBook every time there is a great deal, new line, or even if I just got a new pair that I bought or won and took cute pics in the new pair. :lol:

Also, the Northwest Women's Show is coming up, you guys should consider a booth there. I go every year and every year I leave there with at least one new product I am in love with and tell everyone about.

I think the hidden sales were great on the site (when you had to search for coupons) and a lot of new customers hopefully went to the site to check it out - even just for the fun of the coupon hunt.

All of the social networking sites for moms are huge in influencing my decision to visit and shop at a website that I have never been at. If there are others that recommend a site like babylegs.com that I have never been to, I would be more apt to check it out and purchase. I also have to say that I'd rather purchase BLs from a local boutique?/retailer (to support local businesses) than online too. So, even if people visit the BLs website - they might be purchasing from brick & mortar shops rather than online. But .. the drawback to buying from a store is that they don't often have BLs on sale .. so when there is a great sale on the BLs site, I'm always tempted to pick up a few more pairs!

i first heard of babylegs when my diaper cloth co-op listserv mentioned a coupon code for 50% off. i wasn't fast enough for the coupon, but it drove me to the site... i think coupons and special deals for special groups (like a special coupon code for my diaper co-op!) definitely drive traffic.

(1) promotion + (2) great product + (3) word of mouth = $$$ traffic!

I would never know BabyLegs if I missed the frontpage deal on the slickdeals.com 1 and 1/2 years ago. So let's face it. Promotion first! And please make sure it's a good one. Constant so so deals are relatively difficult to attract new customers (at least people like me at that time) who had no idea about BLs. For me, it was like a learning process of being a first-time mom. The promotion was my motivation to learn a brand new product and the quality of BLs reinforced my later BLs addiction!

Ok, actions speak louder than words. Here are some ideas you might consider to do to maximize the power of word of mouth...

1. Giveaway. I don't know why but it seems BabySNAZZ now is famous for their 20 pairs legwarmers giveaway contest. I constantly see the contest link on my FB, Twitter and other online social networking websites and I know a lot of BLs lovers participated. Will you consider offering one in the future? BabySNAZZ accepts multiple entries (eg. Post the info on your FB gets one entry, post it on your Twitter gets the other one, get a third entry if you post the info in your blog, get a fourth one if you post it in a forum… and so on and so forth.) which means the BabyLegs news could be anywhere online in no time!

2. Coupon hunting. Not the one you already did for holidays but something with more enthusiastic coupon hunters. I happened to know an interesting online coupon hunting called “Great Cloth Diaper Hunt” last year. A lot of diaper related merchandises participated (some of them carry BLs). You can check their forum to see how many people were into this 1 month hunting game. People also shared their experiences with the products in the forum. It’s a very nice and interesting channel to interact with your old and new customers. I spent about two weeks searching like crazy for those little diaper icons hidden in the websites. It was fun and “educational” along the crazy search because I learned a lot of new ideas and products which could make my life with a toddler happier and easier. Will BLs be interested in joining the hunt next time?

3.Ways to share. Love love love the customer photo gallery. It would be great if there is function to share photos in email with friends. We all love to see those lovely cuties in BLs!

If it were my website, (and I feel like it's my baby, I visit so much! :lol: ) I would increase traffic by:

Free Shipping: I HATE s/h fees. Especially when it's not a flat rate, and I have no idea how much I'm paying until the *checkout* page, after I've entered my cc info.

Photo Gallery: (Pretty pleeeease! ;) ) I like to buy products that I can SEE my kids wearing. I would love BL to start an In Real Life (IRL) Gallery. Instead of having "Foto Friday", have everyone upload their photo to the IRL Gallery, and post their link in the normal thread. That way people visiting the forum wouldn't have to click through old threads to look at cute pictures.

Giveaways: Nothing is better than FREE! I love daily drawings, giveaways, etc.

Daily Deal Websites: I know you already participate in Babysteals, but there are a number of others as well, such as http://www.mamacheaps.com, http://www.babyhalfoff.com, http://greenbabybargains.com, http://www.kids.woot.com.

Bargain Websites: The biggest one I know of is http://www.slickdeals.net. If there's a really good deal going on the BL website, someone posts it there, and TONS of people flood in. That's how I found out about the "Capture a Flag" promo going on last July.

Also http:www.retailmenot.com. People post coupon codes they know about there. But IF it were me, I would be posting codes on there as a BL rep constantly. People will find other ways to find the coupon codes anyway, might as well be you giving it away!

Blog Giveaways/Word of Mouth: Nothing promotes a product like friends! Most of us here probably have blogs. Blog giveaways are always so fun! Give each of us a pair to give away on our blog (we'll link you up to watch). We can write about why we love them so much, and make others addicted as well.

Use Facebook: Giveaways, incentives, secret sales... Maybe a coupon for becoming a fan. Maybe a "status" giveaway... where you have to write something about babylegs in your status for everyone to see.

Referral Program: Add a referral program. The more people referred to the forums, the more prizes earned.

Sales: I will admit I don't think I've spent full price on a pair of BL yet. I LOVE sales. Maybe offer more sales to people in your forums :) Price is a big factor in what I purchase.

There are a lot of things that make me consume a product. A lot of the time I read from other moms in a forum, I read blogs and magazines (like above). But mostly I really want to know what I'm buying will be used! Show me tons of pictures of different ways people are USING your product, and I'm hooked!
